So here is another intense installment of Ryan Campbell guitar cover videos. This time I’m covering “Christie Road” by Green Day. One of my favorite songs. This song is about a place where Billie Joe Armstrong would go to “kill some time”. This kind of place is a place where you can go to escape everything, a place where you feel inner peace. That sort of place, everyone has that sort of place and we can relate to it. “Take away the strains of being lonely” just a place where you can go alone and not feel alone. This song is off their second album Kerplunk! Released in 1992. The Chords and lyrics will be posted below.
Verse 1:
G
Staring out of my window
E C
Watching the cars go rolling by
My friends are gone
D
I’ve got nothing to do
G
So I sit here patiently
E
Watching the clock tick so slowly
C
Gotta get away
D
Or my brains will explode
Chorus:
C G D
Give me something to do to kill some time
C G D
Take me to that place that I call home
C G D
Take away the strains of being lonely
C (hold) G (hold) D
Take me to the tracks at Christie Road
Verse 2:
See the hills from afar
Standing on my beat up car
The sun went down and the night fills the sky
Now I feel like me once again
As the train comes rolling in
Smoked my boredom gone
Slapped my brains up so high
Chorus
Bridge:
G G FFFF C C FFFF
G B F G B F
Mother stay out of my way of that place we go
G B F G B F
We’ll always seem to find our way to Christie Road
…Repeat that once…
C F G C F G
If there’s one thing that I need that makes me feel complete
C F G
So I go to Christie Road
F C
It’s home…it’s home
G G FFFF C C FFFF G G FFFF C C FFFF
It’s home………..it’s home
G G FFFF C C FFFF
it’s home

Hey Ryan,
Great article. I always loved this song and I also put some information on my site about Christie Road and its relation to the place in Martinez. Maybe you would like to check it out: http://www.songplaces.com/Christie_Road/Christie_Road_Martinez_California
